Case Study - Commerce at scale: Frontend delivery for 4F and EZ Living Furniture
This case brought together two very different retail journeys: 4F is a sportswear store spanning clothing, footwear, accessories, and sport-specific ranges; EZ Living Furniture is an Irish home-furniture retailer built around furnishing rooms, from sofas and beds to dining, décor, and garden pieces. One storefront helps customers get ready to move; the other helps them make a home—so the same frontend foundations had to support very different buying decisions.
I worked across critical commerce journeys and shared React/TypeScript foundations for 4F and EZ Living Furniture, supporting performance work that reached a 90+ homepage Lighthouse score at the time recorded.

Overview
At Fast White Cat, I worked as a Senior Frontend Engineer from June 2021 to May 2022, helping deliver 4F and EZ Living Furniture storefronts within a larger commerce platform.
At the scale recorded, the storefront work supported 5M+ monthly users and more than USD 400M in combined annual revenue. The EZ Living project reported a 158% increase in e-commerce conversion, alongside 73% lower server response time and 41% faster page loads.
That made the frontend more than a set of screens: every change had to fit existing integrations, shared components, and platform constraints while keeping the path to purchase clear.
What I did
I worked across the customer journey, from landing pages and catalog discovery through cart, shipping, payments, account, and checkout.
I also contributed reusable React and TypeScript components, connecting those interfaces to GraphQL/Apollo and Magento 2/PWA Studio so changes could travel across the storefront without becoming one-off fixes.
To make delivery safer, I used Cypress and Jest and supported homepage performance improvements that reached a Lighthouse score above 90 at the time recorded.

The problem
Large commerce storefronts concentrate risk in familiar-looking flows. Catalog, cart, account, shipping, payment, and checkout changes must fit an established platform while remaining understandable, testable, and performant for customers.
The engineering task included more than implementing screens: changes had to work with shared components, data integration, platform conventions, automated tests, and the responsibilities of other contributors.
Implementation - Implementation and product highlights
- Critical commerce journeys. I contributed frontend features across checkout, shipping, payments, cart, catalog, and account as part of the Fast White Cat delivery team.
- Reusable storefront foundations. I contributed reusable component work in a React and TypeScript storefront context. The recorded historical stack also included GraphQL/Apollo, Node.js, Magento 2, and PWA Studio.
- Testing and performance support. The recorded historical stack included Cypress and Jest. I supported homepage performance work with Lighthouse scores above 90 at the time recorded.
